Event Review
To protect our members, advisors and guest speakers, all of our professional events and community service events are now virtual. Please check out the Schedule to sign up for our events! We are not going to have social events until everything's back to normal.
Preparing for the CPA Exam
Kristin Curcuru of Becker gave a wonderfully informative presentation for us. Members learned how to schedule the exam and the timeline for taking the exam. We also heard from two BAP members who passed the exam talk about their study strategies. Additionally, Professor Pearson covered the technology-focused changes coming to the CPA exam.

EY Overview
Personnel from EY's tax, assurance, and advisory practices spoke to students about their experiences working at a Big Four firm, including how their professions are changing as technologies like AI and blockchain are increasingly being used. They highlighted some of the unique software EY has introduced to deliver meaningful insights to its clients in all areas of the company.
Awards Dinner
We hosted an Annual Awards Dinner every December. We will continue to hold the Awards Dinner when things are back to normal!
In December 2019, we welcomed special guest speaker Daniel J. Dolan, a retired partner from EY, who gave an insightful speech about how the profession of public accounting has changed over the years, especially following the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which permanently changed the scope of the profession. He also provided a key piece of advice to all of the BAP members who will be entering the profession in the coming years: embrace change. He has seen companies adapt successfully to achieve tremendous growth and others that were unwilling to change and suffered the consequences because of it. He has also seen changes in the CPA firms themselves, including more diverse hiring and an expanded list of services provided to clients. He spoke to the value of these changes and how essential it is to continue this trend into the future in order to ensure success.
We also celebrated our 14 graduating members and our outgoing executive committee members, as well as the students who have achieved the highest academic success in their programs and who have contributed the most service to BAP in their time at WashU. In addition, we introduced the new executive committee members who will be beginning their positions in the Spring!
Welcome Back BBQ
We hosted Welcome Back BBQ every semester. We would host BAP members, candidates, professors, advisors, and even some alumni. It was awesome to see everyone get together to kick off an exciting new semester. We will have Welcome Back BBQ when things are back to normal!
